San Diego Repertory Theatre has announced selections for its 2009-2010 season, which will kick off in September with Long Story Short, a 50-year love story featuring the music of GrooveLily, written by Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda, and based on David Schulner’s play, An Infinite Ache. Kent Nicholson will direct.

Up next will be Conor McPherson’s The Seafarer, which celebrates the Christmas season with a card game with the devil. Delicia Turner Sonnenberg will direct. The apocalyptic comedy boom, by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, will follow in January. Directed by Sam Woodhouse, the play follows a young marine biologist as he prepares for the imminent end of the world.

In February, America’s premier Latino comedy troupe Culture Clash (Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas, and Herbert Siguenza) returns with a portrait of America in all its 21st century diversity entitled Culture Clash in Americca.

The season will close in March with A Weekend with Pablo Picasso, a workshop production of Siguenza’s one-man show which pays homage to one of the greatest and most controversial artists of the 20th century.
