San Diego's Old Globe Theatre announced today that Guys and Dolls, presented in association with Sarasota, Florida's Asolo Repertory Theatre, will open its 2017 summer season. Performances at the Old Globe will run from July 2-August 13, with an official opening set for July 7. The Asolo Repertory Theatre run of Guys and Dolls is set for November 15, 2016-January 1, 2017.

Based on the stories and characters by Damon Runyon, Guys and Dolls features music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. The story follows Nathan Detroit's plans to set up a floating crap game in a town rife with gamblers. The musical was first produced on Broadway in 1950 and earned five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The production is directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, whose past credits at the Old Globe include Ken Ludwig’s Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, which he directed, and Bright Star, which he choreographed. The production's creative team will also include Lee Savage (scenic design), Brian Hemesath (costume design), Paul Miller (lighting design), Kevin Kennedy (sound design), and Sinai Tabak (music director).

The full creative team and casting will be announced at a later date.
