Carrie Fisher, Terrence McNally, and More to Take Part in New Christopher Gattelli Musical

San Diego's Old Globe Theatre has announced the lineup for its 2015-16 season, including three world-premiere productions.
The season will open with the world-premiere musical In Your Arms, running from September 16-October 25 with an official opening on September 24. The dance-heavy production features music by Tony winner Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime) and direction and choreography by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies), with stories written by Douglas Carter Beane, Nilo Cruz, Christopher Durang, Carrie Fisher, David Henry Hwang, Rajiv Joseph, Terrence McNally, Marsha Norman, Lynn Nottage, and Alfred Uhry. The piece, which crosses eras and cultures to tell its stories through dance, is coconceived by Gattelli and Jennifer Manocherian. Title song lyrics are by Flaherty's longtime songwriting partner Lynn Ahrens.
Dr. Suess' How The Grinch Stole Christmas! will come to the Old Globe for the holidays, running from November 7-December 26, with an official opening set for November 12. The musical features a book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin. Directed by James Vásquez (based on original direction by Jack O’Brien), the production will include John DeLuca's original choreography.
The West Coast premiere of David Ives' The Metromaniacs, directed by Michael Kahn, will kick off 2016, running from January 30-March 6, with an official opening on February 4. The comedy is adapted from Alexis Piron’s French farce La Métromanie and will be presented in association with Shakespeare Theatre Company.
The season will also include the one-woman play Full Gallop featuring Oscar and Tony Award winner Mercedes Ruehl and opening September 26; the world premiere of Anna Ziegler’s The Last Match, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch and opening on February 13; the world premiere of Michael John LaChiusa and Sybille Pearson's Rain, directed by Barry Edelstein and opening March 24; Nick Payne's Broadway play Constellations, directed by Richard Seer and opening April 9; Pulitzer Prize winner Lawrence Wright’s new play Camp David, directed by Molly Smith and opening May 13; and Kimber Lee’s tokyo fish story, opening May 28.
The theater's Globe for All program will also tour a production of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing throughout the San Diego community from November 10-22, directed by Rob Melrose. The annual Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program production will be Shakespeare's As You Like It, running from November 14-22, and directed by Old Globe associate producer Justin Waldman.
