Asian Story Theater to Present The Musical Paul Gauguin

The Asian Story Theater will hold a three-week run of their original workshop production of The Musical Paul Gauguin, November 6-29, 2011 in San Diego.

The production features book and lyrics by Kent Brisby, with music by Juaquin “Quino” McWhinney, Opetaia Foa’i, Francisco Astudillo, Quintinn Holi, and Stu Shames. Patrick Wheyland will provide musical direction.

The Musical Paul Gauguin details the life of the world-traveling artist Paul Gauguin. This multimedia project incorporates text from Gauguin and other contemporaries to recount the artist’s life, mixed with some of the most stunning and revolutionary artwork ever created. The world-music score is developed in collaboration with professional recording artists from Peruvian, Polynesian, Breton, and Caribbean musical traditions.
