La Jolla Playhouse has announced casting for Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt, to run June 28 – July 24 in the company’s Hughes Potiker Theatre. David Schweizer has adapted Ibsen’s play and will direct the production.

The play follows its title character as he dreams, swindles and charms his way through life in an exhilarating quest for fame and fortune. In Schweizer’s adaptation, a cast of five will bring over 40 characters in Ibsen’s sweeping tale to life.

The company will feature Danny Gavigan, Birgit Huppuch, Luis Moreno, Kate Cullen Roberts, and Evan Zes.

The creative team will include David Zinn (scenic design), Christina Wright (costume design), Darrell Maloney (lighting and projection design), and Ryan Rumery (original music and sound design).
