Celebrating the Theatrical Legacy of Craig Noel, a memorial service for the Old Globe’s founding director, will be held on Monday, May 24 at 7pm at the Old Globe Theatre. Following the service, a reception will be held on the theater’s Copley Plaza. As previously reported, Noel passed away on April 3. He was 94.

On the day of the memorial, the Globe’s lower courtyard will be named the Craig Noel Garden. Both entrances to the garden will bear his name and a dedication plaque will be located at the main entrance.

Noel’s association began with the theater in 1937 and continued through over the course of four decades. During his tenure, the theater received the Regional Theatre Tony Award. Among his many honors is National Medal of Arts, which he received in 2007.

The memorial is free and open to the public. Reservations are required and can be made online at www.TheOldGlobe.org or by calling 619-23-Globe.
