Into a derelict London house, where two brothers live in a delicate balance of hostility and disregard, comes an old bum with pretensions of grandeur and claims of another identity. He is at once hilariously comic and pitifully sad. As he begins to play the two brothers against each other, all three soon become locked in a brutal power struggle. Like the best of Pinter's work, The Caretaker is filled with mystery, menace, humor, and unanswered questions.
