Artists Rep will present the West Coast premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher's new play, Ten Chimneys, this April. Incoming Artistic Director Dámaso Rodriguez makes his directorial debut at Artists Rep with Hatcher's comedic depiction of the backstage lives of Broadway's power couple Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne during a summer spent in their Wisconsin estate of the show's title.

Featuring Artists Rep Resident Artist Michael Mendelson as Alfred Lunt and Linda Alper as Lynn Fontanne, Ten Chimneys delves into the rehearsal process for the 1938 Broadway production of Chekhov's The Seagull as life imitates art amidst love triangles and family dysfunction. Jeffrey Hatcher's new play examines the real depths of truth, loyalty, and love in the private lives behind the curtain of these two infamous Broadway flames.

"Hatcher's Ten Chimneys is an extremely insightful, witty, and sophisticated play filled with meta-theatrical treats. We watch actors playing famous characters who happen to be actors playing characters rehearsing a play-within-a-play with characters playing actors playing characters," says Rodriguez. "The play is a subtly self-referential hybrid of a Noël Coward light comedy, Chekhovian tragi-comedy, and backstage biography that reveals much about the often-blurry line between an artist's personal and professional life."

Ten Chimneys will also feature Abby Wilde as Uta Hagen, JoAnn Johnson as Hattie Sederholm, Artists Rep Resident Artist Todd Van Voris as Sydney Greenstreet, Chris Harder as Carl Sederholm, and Sarah Lucht as Louise Green.

Ten Chimneys will take Artists Rep's Alder Stage beginning April 23–May 26. For more information about this smoking hot production visit Artists Rep's website here.
