City Theatre has announced a special engagement of Without You, August 28-September 21, written and performed by Anthony Rapp. Directed by Steven Maler, the show will feature a four-piece band on City Theatre's 272-seat Mainstage.

In his new one-man show, Rapp shares his audition for Rent, getting cast, rehearsals, and his view from the stage during the tribute performance on the night after Jonathan's tragic death. Without You also details the writer/performer's relationship with his mother during this turbulent time. The show feature Rapp's own lyrics and melodies, stories adapted from his memoir, Without You: a Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent, and the landmark songs of Rent.

David Matos is the musical director and musicians include Daniel Tomko (Bass) and A.T. Vish (Drums). The design team includes Dave Bjornson (sound), Tony Ferrieri (sets), Andrew David Ostrowski (kighting), and Angela M. Vesco (costumes). Rapp is best known for originating the role of Mark in Rent, and his other Broadway credits include You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Six Degrees of Separation. He is currently appearing in New York in Second Stage's production of Some Americans Abroad.
