Plays and Players Theater is one of the oldest community theaters in the country as well as home to the Philadelphia Theatre Company, a premiere professional theatre company. Under the artistic direction of Sara Garonzik, Philadelphia Theatre Company has tapped the pulse of contemporary playwriting with over 100 new American plays and musicals since 1974. A three-time winner of the City Paper Award for Best Theatre Company, they've won numerous awards for productions by acknowledged masters like David Rabe, Terrence McNally, David Ives, and thrilling new voices like native-son Tom Donaghy. Year after year our productions are consistently ranked among the Top Ten productions by the Philadelphia Inquirer; most recently Gross Indecency and How I Learned To Drive made the Inquirer's 1999 "Top Ten"!
