WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Wilma Theater presents the world premier of Raw Boys by Dael Orlandersmith, directed by Blanka Zizka. In Raw Boys, two Irish brothers search for themselves and each other in London and New York. They define themselves through love and art, trying to shake the terrible weight of history and family they carry along with them.

In the plays of Dael Orlandersmith, people are looking to get out. Whether escaping a life of drugs and alcohol (Beauty's Daughter), the rough streets of East Harlem (Monster), or even their own skin (Yellowman), Orlandersmith's characters are typically in search of something other than what they know. In her latest work Raw Boys, now receiving its world premiere at the Wilma Theater, we again meet people who are seeking a new way to live. Played on a large wooden platform adorned with little more than a few chairs and a table, Raw Boys is a tough, sometimes tender drama focusing on a lower-middle-class family in Ireland.
