Quicksilver takes place in Bodie, California, a gold-rush town gone bust. It's 1943 and World War II is in full swing, but it barely seems to touch the lives of three people who are trying to dig a living out of the unforgiving California desert, including a young woman who knows all about the world through movie magazines and radio but has never set foot outside of Bodie. The arrival of a young man anxious to stake his claim changes everything in this highly contagious, possibly fatal outbreak of gold fever.
