Walnut Street Theatre's 2017-18 Independence Studio on 3 season will open with Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins, running September 12-October 15, with opening night set for September 14.

Based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins — the New York socialite whose infamous tin ear couldn't keep her off the stage at Carnegie Hall — Stephen Temperley's play had its world premiere off-Broadway in 2004 at the York Theatre Company before premiering on Broadway in 2005. Jenkins's story was recently brought to the screen in last year's Florence Foster Jenkins, with Meryl Streep playing the title character.

Directed by Debi Marcucci, the production will star Rebecca Robbins as Jenkins and Jonas Cohen as her accompanist Cosmé McMoon. The creative team will include Roman Tatarowicz (set design), Amanda Wolff (costume design), Troy A. Martin (lighting design), and John Kolbinski (sound design).
