Philadelphia's Walnut Street Theatre is now in performances of Rodgers and Hammersetin's classic musical South Pacific, set for an official press opening on Wednesday, September 14. Directed by Charles Abbott, with choreography by Michelle Gaudette, the production will run through October 23 on the theater's Mainstage.

Based on James A. Michener's Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Tales of the South Pacific, the story follows Nellie Forbush (Kate Fahrner), a spunky nurse from Arkansas, who falls in love with Emile de Becque (Paul Schoeffler), a French plantation owner, while stationed on a South Pacific island during World War II. The score features iconic tunes including "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair," "Some Enchanted Evening," "There Is Nothing Like a Dame," "Younger Than Springtime," and "I'm in Love With a Wonderful Guy."

The cast also features Lori Tan Chinn (Bloody Mary), Ben Michael (Lieutenant Joseph Cable), Fran Prisco (Luther Billis), and Alison T. Chi (Liat).
