Philadelphia's Arden Theatre has announced the lineup for its 2016-17 season.

Stupid F*cking Bird, written and directed by Aaron Posner, will open the season, running from September 15-October 16 at the F. Otto Haas Theatre. Featuring original songs by James Sugg, the show is a contemporary retelling of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull.

Matthew Lopez's The Legend of Georgia McBride will follow on the Arcadia Stage, running from October 13-November 27. Directed by Emmanuelle Delpeche, the story follows a young, broke Elvis impersonator who discovers a new career as a drag performer. Dito van Reigersberg (better known by his drag name, Martha Graham Cracker) will star as Tracy.

Arden Children's Theatre will then present a production of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan at the F. Otto Haas Theatre, adapted for the stage by Douglas Irvine and directed by Whit MacLaughlin. Performances will run from November 23-January 29, 2017.

John, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Baker, will run on the Arcadia Stage from January 12-February 26, 2017. The story is described as follows: "A young couple arrives at a bed and breakfast in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, looking to spend a weekend visiting the historical sites of the famous battlefields. They are welcomed by a cheerful innkeeper into a home filled with tchotchkes, dolls, and other ghosts of the past." Matthew Decker will direct.

William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Matt Pfeiffer, will be next at the F. Otto Haas Theatre, running from March 2-April 2, 2017. The production will be followed by the world premiere of The Light Princess, adapted by Tony Lawton from the story by George MacDonald. Featuring music by Alex Bechtel, performances will run from April 5-May 28, 2017, on the Arcadia Stage.

Arthur Laurents, Jule Styne, and Stephen Sondheim's classic musical Gypsy will close out the season at the F. Otto Haas Theatre. Directed by Terrence J. Nolen, performances will run from May 18-June 25, 2017.
