Annie Arrives at Walnut Street Theatre

Glenn Casale directs the musical, which runs through January 7.

Performances of Annie begin tonight at the Walnut Street Theatre.

This Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of Harold Gray's comic strip features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and a book by Thomas Meehan. Glenn Casale directs the show described as follows: "Annie is a spunky orphan in 1930s New York City determined to find her parents. In one fun-filled adventure after another, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil schemes, befriends President Roosevelt and finds a new home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace and a lovable mutt named Sandy."

The creative team includes Michelle Gaudette (choreography), John Daniels (music/vocal director), Robert Andrew Kovach (set design), Mary Folino (costume coordinator), Paul Black (lighting design), Ed Chapman (sound design), and William Berloni (animal trainer).
