Act II Playhouse to Remount Respect at Society Hill Playhouse

By Tristan Fuge • Dec 15, 2009 • Philadelphia
Act II Playhouse is set to remount their production of the musical, Respect: A Musical Journey of Women, January 27-April 18, set to play at Society Hill Playhouse.

Inspired by Dorothy Marcic's book, Respect: Women and Popular Music, the show began as a series of one-woman presentations, and was later developed into a full-scale musical, which recounts the journey of women in the 20th century through Top 40 songs. The cast will feature Lois Sach Binder, Danielle G. Herbert, and Jennifer Lorae. The role of narrator will be played by Eileen Matthews for the first four weeks of run, and Cheryl Williams will take over for the remaining eight weeks.

The creative team will include Carmela Guiteras Mayo (choreography), Dirk Durossette (scenic design), Wade Laboissonniere (costume design), James Leitner (lighting design), Collin Maier (musical direction), and Mark Valenzuela (sound design).
