The play -- written by Frank Wedekind and translated by Douglas Langworthy -- follows a group of 14-year-olds as they grapple with their sexuality in Victorian Europe. Written in 1891, this piece launched the avant-garde and was not performed without censorship for nearly a century. The play is also the basis for the Tony Award-winning musical of the same name.
