Full Cast, Creative Team Set for Wilma’s Schmucks

Full cast and creative team information has been announced for the U.S. premiere of Roy Smiles’ Schmucks, at the Wilma Theater, December 3-January 4, with an opening set for December 10. Jiri Zizka will direct.

The play is set in 1965, and involves a fictitious meeting between two comic icons, Groucho Marx and Lenny Bruce. The imaginative comedy aims to expose the secret motives that drove these two famed comedians to make people laugh as the characters spar over the purpose of comedy in society.

The cast will feature Ian Alda as aspiring comic Joe Klein, Ron Crawford as Groucho Marx, Erik Jensen as Lenny Bruce, Caitlin Clouthier as waitress Mary Lenahan, and Gary Littman as “A Friend.” The creative team will include lighting designer Jerold R. Forsyth, costume designer Janus Stefanowicz, set designer Bill Clarke, and sound designer Nick Rye.
