Azuka Theatre Company Announces Cast for Jordan Harrison’s Act A Lady

The Azuka Theatre Company in Philadelphia will open its 2011-2012 season with Jordan Harrison’s comedy, Act A Lady. The show will debut at Off-Broad Street consortium’s new space, First Baptist Church, November 3-20, with an opening on November 9. Kevin Glaccum directs.

In Act a Lady, playwright Harrison transports the audience to a Prohibition-era small town in the midwest. When the men of the town decide to put on a play in which they are costumed in fancy women’s clothing, the whole community is turned upsidedown as gender lines merge and identities become entangled.

The cast includes Mike Dees, Jamison Foreman, Matt Tallman, Amanda Schoonover, Meghan Slater and Leah Walton.

Harrison is a Guggenheim Fellow and a Hodder Fellow at Princeton University. He has received commissions from Arden Theatre, Ars Nova, Berkeley Rep/Actors Theatre of Louisville, Cypress Films, the Guthrie Theater/Children’s Theatre Company, Playwrights Horizons, and South Coast Rep.
