2006 Barrymore Award Winners Announced

The 2006 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre were presented by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia last night at a gala ceremony held at the Merriam Theatre, hosted by actress Mary Martello.

The Arden Theatre Company topped the list of winners with eight awards, while the Philadelphia Theatre Company won four. Arden’s Winesburg, Ohio received the most awards of any single production, with five; the theatrer’s producing artistic director, Terrence J. Nolen, was acknowledged for both Outstanding Direction of a Musical for Winesburg, Ohio and Outstanding Direction of a Play for Opus.
