La Bête Kicks Off the Arden Theatre's 2014-15 Season

David Hirson’s French comedy opens the Philly theater’s 27th season.

Philadelphia's Arden Theatre Company opens its 27th season with David Hirson's La Bête, running from September 11-October 12 on the Arden's F. Otto Haas Stage. The production's official opening is set for September 17.

Directed by Emmanuelle Delpach in her Arden directorial debut, La Bête follows a 17th century acting troupe that falls into crisis when its is ordered to add an outrageous street performer to its ranks.

Arden Theatre veteran Scott Greer stars in the title role of The Beast. Joining him in the cast are Alex Bechtel, Taysha Canales, Michael Doherty, James Ijames, Alex Keiper, Ian Merrill Peakes, Dito van Reigersberg, Amanda Schoonover, and Wendy Staton.

The production features scenic design by James Kronzer, costume design by Rosemarie E. McKelvey, lighting design by Thom Weaver, and sound design by Jorge Cousineau.

The Arden Theatre's 2014-15 season will also include Great Expectations, Beauty and the Beast, Under the Skin, Macbeth, The Jungle Book, and Passion.
