Azuka Theatre Announces 2012-2013 Season

Azuka Theatre has announced plans for its upcoming season.

The season will kick off with the world premiere of J.C. Lee’s Pookie Goes Grenading (October 31-November 18) the story of Pookie, her gang of high school misfits, and their quest to make the most awesome movie ever, directed by Kevin Glaccum. Continuing the season in the spring, will be the world premiere of Everyone and I (March 28-April 7) by Elizabeth Scanlon, directed by Kevin Glaccum. Co-produced by the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts in partnership with the American Poetry Review, the play looks at the similarities and differences between two towering figures of 20th Century culture: Billie Holiday and Frank O’Hara.

The season will come to a close with Azuka’s second New Professionals Production, which uses new professional actors and designers, who are mentored, introduced to the community, and given their first professional credit. The production will be the East Coast Premiere of Phillip Dawkin’s Failure: A Love Story (May 8-26). Allison Heishman will direct.
