Housed in a 10,000 square foot warehouse in South Philadelphia, the piece uses some of the writer's best-known tales, including The Tell-tale Heart, The Raven, and The Masque of the Red Death, as its source material, and theatergoers will move from room to room encountering scenes from these works. Additionally, freelance writer and Poe lecturer Edward Pettit will be curating exhibits, which audiences can browse after performances to learn more about Gothic literature, 19th-century Philadelphia, and Poe's lasting influence.
The cast will include Dave Johnson, Dallas Drummond, Nate Holt, Patricia Bartlett, Kim Carson, Greg Giovanni, Bruce Graham, David Howey, and Matt Lorenz among others. The creative team will feature magician Matt Holtzclaw who has developed illusions for the piece, scenic designer Brad Helm, lighting designer John Stephen Hoey, and composer and sound designer Michael Kiley.
