Tony nominee Christopher Gattelli will direct and choreograph Bristol Riverside Theatre’s production of the musical Altar Boyz, to run May 12-31.

Conceived by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport, with a book by Kevin Del Aguila and music and lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker, the musical is a spoof about a heavenly guy-group — 5 small town boys named Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham — trying to save the world one screaming fan at a time.

The cast will feature Xavier Cano as Juan, Matt DeAngelis as Matthew, Jonathan Fadoul as Abraham, Travis Morin as Luke, and John Pinto, Jr. as Mark. Adler will serve as the production’s music director.

Gattelli was the choreographer for the original Off-Broadway production of Altar Boyz, for which he received a Drama Desk nomination and a Lucille Lortel Award. He received a “Best Choreography” Tony nomination for South Pacific, with other Broadway credits including Sunday In The Park With George, The Ritz, 13, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, and High Fidelity.
