Philiadelphia Theatre Company‘s world premiere of Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins, by Margaret Engel and Allison Engel, has extended, and will now play through April 25. As previously announced, the production is directed by David Esbjornson and stars two-time Tony Award nominee Kathleen Turner.

The show is based on the writings of the late political journalist Molly Ivins. A true Texas original, Ivins was a sharp-tongued wit who skewered the political establishment and the “good ol’ boys” with her unforgettable humor and wisdom.

Tuner’s Broadway credits include Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Graduate, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and she recently starred Off-Broadway in The Third Story. Her many film credits include War of the Roses, Romancing the Stone, Prizzi’s Honor, Body Heat, and Peggy Sue Got Married.
