Kathryn Meisle, David Strathairn, et al. Set for Vaclav Havel’s Leaving

Academy Award nominee David Strathairn will star in the U.S. premiere of Vaclav Havel’s first play in 20 years, Leaving, translated by Paul Wilson, to run May 19 – June 20 at the Wilma Theater. Jiri Zizka will direct the production.

Leaving focuses on a recently-retired Chancellor who confronts questions of truth and power while he struggles to manage his eccentric family and a bevy of comic functionaries.

The company will also feature Krista Apple (Monika), Mark Cairns (Albin), Janis Dardaris (Grandma), Mike Dees (Bob), Peter DeLaurier (Hanuš), Victoria Frings (Zuzana), Lenny Haas (Dick), Trevor Long (Patrick Klein), Mary McCool (Bea Weissenmüttelhofová), Kathryn Meisle (Irena), Jennifer Ruby Morris (Vlasta), Geddeth Smith (Oswald), Luigi Sottile (Victor), and H. Michael Walls as (Knobloch).

The creative team will include Klara Zieglerova (scenic design), Vasilija Zivanic (costume design), Jerold R. Forsyth (lighting design), and Nick Rye (original music and sound design).
