Lantern Theater Company has announced casting for its production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, to run March 1-April 1 under the direction of the Lantern’s Artistic Director Charles McMahon.

Romeo and Juliet is a play beloved all over the world for the tragic romance of its star-crossed lovers. But it is the story, too, of an enduring feud between the Capulet and Montague families – a conflict grown so deadly that it throws an entire city into turmoil.

The cast includes Jake Blouch(Tybalt/Paris/Peter), Charlie DelMarcelle (Mercutio/ Prince, K.O. DelMarcelle (Lady Capulet), Nicole Erb (Juliet), Leonard C. Haas (Capulet/Apothecary), Sean Lally (Romeo), Kevin Meehan (Benvolio/ Friar John/ Balthasar), Ceal Phelan (Nurse/ Ensemble), and Frank X (Friar Lawrence/Chorus).

The creative team includes Meghan Jones (set designer), Mary Folino (costume designer), Shelley Hicklin (lighting designer), Daniel Perelstein (sound designer), and J. Alex Cordaro (fight director).

As a companion to the performances, the Lantern will reprise its popular Scholars: In Conversation series with Sex, Swords & Surprises in Shakespeare’s Verona, a three-part discussion series March 12, 19, and 26. These conversations will explore the play’s striking modern-day relevance as experts in neuroscience, conflict theory, and literature join Lantern artists for conversations about teenagers, feuds, and plot twists.
