Geoff Sobelle to Star in Hamlet at the Lantern Theater

Geoff Sobelle will star in the upcoming Lantern Theater Company production of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, set to play at St. Stephen’s Theater with Charles McMahon at the helm, April 3-May 10.

Sobelle, a national recognized experimental performer, will bring his dynamic physical style to explore the dark humor of Shakespeare’s tragic son. The cast will also include Dallas Drummond as Guildenstern, Melissa Dunphy as Ophelia, Joe Guzman as Claudius, Dan Hodge as Horatio, Dave Johnson as Rosencrantz, Andrew Kane as Laertes, Mary Martello as Gertrude, and Tim Moyer as Polonius.

The production will feature lighting design by Drew Billiau, set design by Dirk Durossette, sound design by Nick Rye, and costume designs by Brian Strachan.

As part of Shakespeare for a New Generation, a national initiative sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Lantern Theater will welcome students from ten Philadelphia schools, where the company has teaching artists, at no cost to the students or their schools.
