Hunter Foster-Helmed Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story Releases Rehearsal Photos

Performances of the musical continue through June 17 at Buck’s County Playhouse before transferring to the Kimmel Center.

The Bucks County Playhouse production of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story is set for the upcoming opening night of May 27. The show, directed by Hunter Foster and choreographed by Lorin Latarro, will play through June 17 before transferring to Philadelphia's Kimmel Center June 24-July 9.

The musical features a book by Alan Janes, music and lyrics by Buddy Holly, and is described as follows: "From his meteoric rise to fame in 1957 through his tragic death less than two years later, Buddy Holly influenced modern music like no other performer of his generation. Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story features more than 20 of Holly’s greatest hits, including "That’ll Be the Day," "Peggy Sue," "Oh Boy," and many more.''

John Dewey leads the cast in the title role, alongside Zach Cossman as Jerry Allison, Andrew Frace as Hipockets Duncan, James David Larson as Joe B. Mauldin, Kent M. Lewis as Norman Petty, Brandi Massey as Apollo Performer, Elizabeth Nestlerode as Vi Petty, Karak Osborn as the Big Bopper, Gilbert Sanchez as Ritchie Valens, Max Sangerman as Tommy Allsupp, and Natalie Ortega as Maria Elena.

Paul Masse serves as musical director, with Adam Koch as scenic designer, Gina Scherr as lighting design, Nicole V. Moody as costume designer, and Matthew Given as sound designer.
