John Doyle to Direct Merrily We Roll Along at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

Tony Award winner John Doyle will direct a production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s Merrily We Roll Along, to run March 3-31, 2012 at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park‘s Robert S. Marx Theatre.

The musical charts how three friends’ relationship unravels, working backward through time. As with Doyle’s productions of Sweeney Todd and Company, this new staging will feature actors who also will serve as the show’s musicians. Casting will be announced in the near future.

Doyle won a Tony Award for his direction of Sweeney Todd, and a Tony Award nomination for his staging of Company, which was originally seen at the Playhouse. Among his other New York credits are A Catered Affair on Broadway and Road Show at the Public Theater.
