Tony nominee Marion McClinton will direct best-selling author Walter Mosley’s first play, The Fall of Heaven, which will receive its world premiere at The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, January 23-February 20.

Based on his novel The Tempest Tales, Mosley’s play is about Tempest Landry, a street-wise young man living in Harlem who accidentally gets shot and unexpectedly finds himself at the Pearly Gates. When Saint Peter orders him to hell, Tempest refuses to go, believing he was justified in his actions. Sent back to earth with an angel named Joshua, the fate of the afterworld lies in Tempest’s hands: if he refuses to see the error of his ways, Heaven will collapse, thereby allowing hell and its keeper to reign supreme.

The cast will include Leland Gantt as Tempest Landry, Joy C. Hooper as Alfreda and Darlene, Anthony Marble as Basil Bob and St. Peter, Esau Pritchett as Joshua Angel, and Heather Alicia Simms as Branwyn Weeks.

The creative team will include David Gallo (set), Karen Perry (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting), and Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound).
