WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Playwright Dennis Richard says he was hit by the idea of turning the 1987 Maryland train collision between Amtrak train 94, (the Colonial from Washington, D.C. en route to Boston) and a set of Conrail locomotives in his sleep. Wreck's story is set in motion by the worst train disaster in American history at the time, a crash that left fourteen people dead and cast a shadow over one of the train's crews. Investigation and conviction resulted in the Conrail engineer, who tested positive for marijuana, serving four years in jail. A dramatic comedy full of intrigue, Wreck's story revolves around two key players--the engineer, Dalton, who has just been released from prison, and Uncle Max.
