WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Women's Project and Productions continues its First Looks Readings series. All readings are Free to the general public. The schedule is as follows: January 14 Ancient Lights by Shelagh Stephenson, directed by Melanie Sutherland Three old friends?an American movie star, England's answer to Martha Stewart and a Katie Couric in crisis?find themselves re-evaluating their lives, loves and friendship on a dark and stormy Christmas night. January 21 Full Bloom by Suzanne Bradbeer, directed by Mary Robinson 16-year-old Phoebe Harris, a smart, sensitive and observant girl, struggles to find meaning in a culture preoccupied with youth and beauty. February 4 Real Estate by Michele Miller, directed by Alexandra Aron After a tragedy, a young artist and her banker husband discover that even prime Manhattan real estate cannot become a home without learning a language beyond love. This reading takes place at the WPP Studio, 55 West End Avenue at 62nd Street February 18 Back Burner Murder by Michele Aldin, directed by Carolyn Cantor A young couple on the verge of marriage challenges the idea of unconditional love when murder is committed. February 25 Monkey in the Middle by Brighde Mullins, directed by Mark Wing-Davey Sexual and scientific intrigue occupy this bracing examination of neo-Darwinism and its implications. Set in the Mojave Desert in 1986, it follows the trail of a rough-edged teenager and her new boyfriend, a genius fallen on hard times. This reading takes place at the WPP Studio, 55 West End Avenue at 62nd Street March 18 Over a Barrel by Beatrice Terry In 1963, professional atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair proclaimed herself the most hated woman in America. In 1995, she is old, mostly forgotten...and facing imminent, violent death. Now what?
