WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

In 1987, an extraordinary talent was let loose on the Canadian theatre and comedy scenes. From very modest beginnings at the Edmonton Fringe Festival, Sandra Shamas has gone on to become one of the most popular performers on major stages across the country. Her first show, My Boyfriend's Back and There's Going To be Laundry, was a hit from its very first performance and spawned the Boyfriend trilogy, performed across Canada and at the prestigious Old Vic Theatre in London, England. The trilogy was published in book form and was nominated for the Governor General's Award. Sandra's second trilogy, Wit's End, has also been seen across Canada in record-breaking runs. The second part of this trilogy, Hearts Desire, was featured at the 2003 HBOComedy Festival in Aspen, where it won the Best Theatrical Performance Award. At Frigid New York, Sandra performs the "best of" her Wit's End trilogy. Freshly divorced, about to turn forty and never having lived outside a city, Sandra moved to Wit's End farm. The trilogy examines her education on rural life, hitchhiking, the hormonal highway, and making peace.
