Ariel Dorfman's Widows, adapted from his critically acclaimed novel, receives New York premiere.
In a village where all the men have disappeared, the muddy river produces a torn, unrecognizable body. In plays like Death and the Maiden and The Other Side, Chilean playwright Ariel Dorfman has examined what, for many nations around the globe is commonplace: the aftermath of civil war and the practice of torture by totalitarian regimes.
