Anne met her husband Sam when he was a battered-by life, struggling actor and nurtured him into being the leader of a permanent theatre company. When Anne starts to lose her husband to a terminal illness she fights for his life with the only medicine they know, theatre. She experiences sorrow and loss as she watches her husband ravaged and then defeated by cancer. There isn't an emotion that she doesn't experience as she rages about death, life and the unfairness of it all. When hope is gone, that is when real life truly beings.

When Real Life Begins is a one woman show based on the real life experiences of Claire Higgins and Kricker James, founding Artistic Directors of the Chain Lightning Theatre Company.
