WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Stephen Nisbet recreates the outlaw spirit and masturbatory narcissism of Jean Genet, one of French literature's sacred monsters. Randy Gener's new play is based on Genet's interviews, essays, speeches and manifestos. In it, Genet has been spurned by Decimo, a 20-year-old prostitute. While traveling in a third-class carriage between Salon and Saint-Rambert-d'Albon in France, Genet finds himself in a sexual and spiritual crisis and a moment of creative sterility. In this spirit of revelation, Genet comes to grips with his moral solitude, his aestheticism and his discovery of the dangerous power of beauty.
