WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Directed by Helen Hayes nominee Michael Chamberlin, Washing Machine is inspired by the traumatic and mysterious true story of a 5-year-old girl who drowned inside a laundromat washing machine in Chilhowie, VA during June, 2005. This bracing new solo performance piece expands the girl's final hallucinogenic moments of breath as she and the small town wrestle with the consequences of her death. Taking place entirely inside the washing machine, the play re-imagines the girl's (played by Dana Berger) final moments of breath as she struggles to escape.
Washing Machine features movement by Brendan McCall, sets by Akiko Kosaka, lights by Ben Kato, sound by Elizabeth Rhodes, and costumes by Amanda Bujak.
