WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
NY Artists Unlimited presents Voices of the Town - A Vaudeville Salute!, written & directed by Melba LaRose, choreographed by Francis J. Roach. This interactive production is a play-within-a-play, opening with the company on tour to underserved audiences (its mission), then segueing into becoming famous personages such as Mae West, Sophie Tucker, Bert Williams, Florence Mills, the Marx Brothers, Gallagher & Shean, Bea Lillie, and many more. The entire history of vaudeville is covered, and finally the company returns to present day, having discovered what breakthroughs this art form made for African-Americans, immigrants, and women.
