WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The story of three fictional vaudevillians who experience the peaks (schmoozing with Al Jolson, Jack Benny, Nora Bayes and others) and valleys (radio, the Depression, "talkies," and corporate greed) of the life of the genre, as they pursue their dream of playing The Palace Theatre, in New York. Interspersed throughout are monologues, songs and skits from the period, including songs by George M. Cohan, Irving Berlin and Irene Franklin. It begins in the Bowery in 1913 and ends in Dubuque in 1935. Vaudeville or Bust is written & directed by Michael Stebbins.
