Karen's desire to make a minor change to their apartment throws her relationship into turmoil. As her husband, Michael, tries to hang on to the life he's always known, Karen struggles to connect with the life she has. A brief encounter with Jimmy, a political activist, pushes Michael further into his fantasy life while Karen's best friend, Anne, forces her to seek her own truth. After a night of drinking with Tony, Michael is confounded by his truth and seeks refuge in his self-styled world.
