WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Howdy Doody meets Dog Day Afternoon in The Wingding Doodle Club. The story chronicles the last, desperate, pathetic days of the longest running (fictional) children's show in TV history - produced live every afternoon from Channel 6 in Wilkes-Barré, PA. This hilarious look at the bottom rung of show business is filled with scheming up-and-comers, fading down-and-outers, and a psychotic puppeteer. Is this the end of a legend?! "You Bet'cha!"
Written and directed by 20 year NY Radio legend Ken Dashow, weekday afternoon-host on Q104.3, NY's Only Classic Rock Station." Part of The New York International Fringe Festival.
Michael Musto of The Village Voice wrote of the staged reading: "Avenue Q meets The Mary Tyler Moore Show in radio personality Ken Dashow's comedy The Wingding Doodle Club, which included a psychotic puppeteer - but the audience didn't need to be threatened to laugh, especially with the great cast."
