WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle is based on the internationally acclaimed novel by one of Japan's most renowned writers, Haruki Murakami. Directed by Stephen Earnhart, the show combines live performance, puppetry, and choreography with video projections and hypnotic soundscapes to create a "theatre of dreams." At once a detective story, an account of a disintegrating marriage, and an excavation of buried secrets from World War II, this surreal mystery follows an unassuming "everyman", Toru, as he searches for his wife who's disappeared. Toru soon encounters a cast of strange characters, each with their own intriguing stories, who begin showing up in his dreams, opening doors to a hallucinatory world charged with sexuality and violence. Soon, the lines between dreams and reality dissolve.

re: THE WIND-UP BIRD CHRONICLE
Daring and exciting, the story and cast carry "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle" to a new entertainment high. Stephen Earnhart and his talented team have more than done justice in bringing Haruki Murakami's 607 pages to a 2 hour theatrical must-go-see. I saw it last night, it...I'm still blown away by the experience! This is a gripping, unique, multi media piece of art.
