WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Dan O'Brien's The Voyage of the Carcass opens on the tip of an iceberg during a Polar expedition that has gone south. Nothing on this slab of ice cream can prepare the intrepid Carcass crew as it clowns backwards and fowards in time in a final effort to reach the North Pole, save a marriage, turn off the air conditioner, and realize one last dream.

Dan O'Brien's The Voyage of the Carcass, now playing at the HERE Arts Center, is a play within a play within yet another play. It begins as a farce about an amateur arctic explorer called Bane who concocts the half-witted idea of sailing to the North Pole. After Bane declares his intentions in an opening monologue, we flash forward several years into the voyage: Of his 40-person crew, only he and two of his shipmates, Kane and Israel, are still alive, marooned in the arctic ice. They're bored, they're annoyed with each other, and they're intent on eating the most recently deceased of their fellow sailors. A great deal of hijinks ensues.
