WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
On June 2nd, six classically trained women will tackle all of the roles in Shakespeare's final masterpiece, often switching parts mid-scene. The Tempest Ladies, LLC (Stella Berg, Laura Borgwardt, Julia Giolzetti, Holly Hart, Laura Bess Jernigan, and Jana Stambaugh) was created by a group of friends studying at Shakespeare's Globe in London. After a well-received run at the Edinburgh Fringe, where the show was called "spellbinding" and "hugely inventive and wonderfully realized", Shakespeare's tale of shipwrecked kings, spirits, lovers, and clowns comes to the Players Theatre for one night only. A physically demanding, playful, and accessible production, The Tempest is not to be missed. This production is cut to 90 minutes without an intermission and is family-friendly. After our second performance, we will be inviting the audience to join us for a celebration and reception. The Tempest Ladies are also developing an educational aspect, and hope to tour their show to schools around the city.
