WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Israelis in New York have written and produced a social satire: The Shirt. Written and directed by Avi Levi, and translated and produced by Ariella Baranes, the idea for the play emerged when the director was inspired by the group's improvisations, and The Shirt was born.
A one act social satire, The Shirt takes place in a far away country as perceived by a bewildered tourist. Danny, the tourist arrives to a magical and enchanting country. While marveling at its beauty, Danny gets acquainted with the country's establishment and way of life: the government; the security services; the national religion; the arts; and the underdog. While social life is governed by a host of rules and regulations - quite bizarre for the visiting tourist -- the most significant restriction is that one may NEVER, under no circumstances, take off a shirt.
But our Danny has a small problem...
