WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, New York's premiere eco-friendly/socially-conscious theatre festival, includes new works, musicals, adaptations, one-acts, solo shows and more.

ach show will partner with a not-for profit organization and will implement green-theater sensibility into their productions. This year's festivity, including over 50 productions, will perform at Robert Moss Theater (440 Lafayette Street), The Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street) and Theatres at 45 Bleecker Street (Bleecker Street Theatre and Green Room Theatre).

Organizations that will benefit from the productions at the festivity include Alzheimer's Foundation of America, Amnesty International, The Appalachian Community Fund, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Catholic Charities, Children's Aid Society, Citymeals-on- Wheels, Coalition for the Homeless, Democracy Now!, Doctors Without Borders, Early Stages, The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Girls, Inc., GrowNYC, The Hudson Guild, inMotion, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's, The National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, National Eating Disorder Association, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, PFLAG, Organic Consumers Organization, The Resource Foundation, Sanctuary for Families, SHARE, Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Washington Crossing Historic Park, Women In Need.

Ryan Knowles has a powerful presence and a fluidity with the spoken word that makes his solo show at the Gene Frankel Theatre, Dig and Be Dug: The Gospel of Lord Buckley, an entertaining experience, even if parts of the writer/performer's script could still use some work.

The piece, directed by David Kraft, begins with Knowles as a somewhat drugged out host welcoming the audience to his apartment for an homage to the comedian Richard Myrle Buckley (aka Lord Buckley), that is structure[...]
