The Kitchen takes part in The People's Poetry Gathering, a citywide poetry festival celebrating the world's literary and folk traditions. Events include: Friday, March 30, 6pm The book launch and art opening for Claudia Rankine's new collection Plot. Friday, March 30, 9pm Elder Babb and The McCollough Sons of Thunder, a literature series that explores the performance-poem as liturgical form, the sermon as literary form, and the audience as congregation. Saturday, March 31, 9pm Annie Lanzillotto hosts an Action-Writing Dance Party. Get your groove on and bring your writing tool of choice. Sunday, April 1, 4pm Experience the rich poetic tradition of Sicily, known as l'isola dei poeti (the island of poets).
