The Soviet Nazi non-aggression pact of 1939 caused the disruption of the Communist party, U.S.A. Black writer, Lee Ransom, who has been sponsored by the party, has to decide his future. He decides to accept the invitation of a young editor to publish with an uptown publisher, provided that he make changes in his novel,"Let The Red Flags Unfurl." As part of the deal,he agrees to cut two radical characters. Flash forward to 1965.A publishing company wants to publish the original novel. The two dropped characters fight with Lee over whether he should accept the deal.

Delivered by a cast that includes seasoned pros and young actors whose names will appear in future Broadway lights, the play explores the on again off again relationship between New York's black and white left.
